Looking south to Cairns from the red Arrow in Edge Hill

Edge Hill looking South to Cairns from the Red Arrow

Cairns property has not followed the post GFC price increases witnessed in southern parts - particularly in NSW, Victoria  and  Darwin.

There is currently an oversupply of developer stock on the back of several companies falling  into receivership and investors who bought at the height of the 2007 boom have either to sell at a loss or hold until the Far North economy and property values improve.  Most  owners and investors appear to have decided to hold for the upturn, with a number of apartments  having been on the market for well over a year or  removed from listings altogether.

The price of investor owned apartments that are still listed remains high on a square metre basis and on a dollar for dollar basis vis a vis house and land sales.

Despite the relatively poor supply and high demand for houses in Cairns, their recorded sales price  remains depressed.

Owners  and property investors looking towards  Cairns would do well to take advantage of the current disconnect that exists between apartment and house values.

An Investment that rewards effort and hard work

For an Australian, tax deductible Donation that is certain to be well spent have you considered CO-ID (Co-operation in Development) ?

Fred Hyde is a remarkable Queenslander and CO-ID Australia is a registered Australian charity that builds and operates schools on Bhola Island in Bangladesh. Fred is from Warwick in Queensland, and over a period of 3 decades he has overseen the building of 41 schools in  Char Fassion.

We funded School number 37, which we continue  to support each year. It was completed in 2008 and is now fully enrolled with 300 children and 4 teachers - that is, with a teacher-child ratio that would challenge western teachers everywhere  . ... but  which shows that the children of Bhola are clamouring to go to school,  and that we all value best what we work hardest to achieve.

CO-ID's most recent school , # 41,  was opened by the Australian High Commissioner on 9th of May 2009.

By way of saying thank you to Australia the young people  of Bhola Island, one of the poorest regions in the world,  managed to raise in return - taka by taka - the equivalent of one and a half  year's adult wage . Their generous donation was made on behalf of the Australian Bush Fire Appeal and went towards assisting those who suffered such devastating loss in the Victorian bush fires.
