Check out the city of Cairns from Edge Hill's famous Red Arrow Waliking track

A bush walker's view of the city of Cairns. More beautiful than this snapshot suggests
Cairns is one of the most beautiful cities in
Far North Queensland

A fresh new Liberal wind has swept through Queensland. It  promises, for tomorrow,  a new State of Queensland that will reward effort and enterprise and provide opportunity for all

The winds of change can be felt throughout the state and in Far North Queensland especially one feels a strong sense of optimism for the years ahead. If Liberal Party member, Gavin King, who won the state seat of Cairns with an overwhelming majority, is as brilliant with his plans for our city as he is with the written word, we are ensured of a progressive and  even more exciting  Cairns  than the one we already have

Cairns in winter is a city of soft warmth, blue skies and gentle breezes. In summer the moist ambient air wraps  around the mountains and over the sea. Only in tropical latitudes less than 20 degrees from the equator will you find spots as  sensuous as Cairns  . The tropical air  envelopes you in a warm mantle that  hangs over the rainforest and incites  everywhere a cornucopia of colour and growth. At night the exotic sounds and smells of the city  assail your senses and the cool touch of  the tropical  air  makes captives of its visitors and those who live here

Year long tourists and travellers  from around the world brighten the busy Esplanade strip. Daily they explore reef, forest and hinterland,  and then soak up the sun alongside our sparkling lagoon.  Carved into the foreshore in the curved shape of the State of Queensland, the lagoon is a perfect place of leisure for families and friends

Unfortunately, as elsewhere, businesses in the Far North are still struggling. The property market too, as elsewhere,  remains depressed. But green shoots are starting to appear, and with our change in seasons, and the gathering winds of change, Cairns  can  look forward  to a much brighter and more prosperous future

Please note - we are not real estate agents and  we operate only with our own properties. These have been gradually reduced in recent years and will be further reduced in the future when market indicators improve

Our long term rentals are all currently under lease and are self managed. Our only two remaining short term commercial residential rentals  belong in a  Self Managed Super Fund and are leased by professional managers on behalf of the fund

Is a small family partnership with interests in property (in the private sector).
As stated above we are not real-estate agents and have in recent years been selling down  properties that we have owned for several decades.  We no  longer self manage any short term holiday  rentals

We manage and write our own fixed term residential leases under the relevant state authority

Queensland rentals come under the aegis of the RTA. The RTA  outlines the rights and responsibilities of all parties in a  rental agreement. Their office can be contacted on 1300366311 or you can visit their website at: www.rta.qld.gov.au

Machans Beach ... gently hugs the coast between the foothills of  the Great Dividing Range and NQ's Wet Tropics Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef. As Barron River Beach it was Cairns very first local beach .......  read more  about this lovely suburb where we once lived on the edge of the sea and where we now own just one cottage (under lease) that has  scenic, and safe, views out to sea ...

Edge Hill, at the foot of Mount Whitfield, is one of Cairns most desirable suburbs ...

An Investment that rewards effort and hard work

For an Australian, tax deductible Donation that is certain to be well spent have you considered CO-ID (Co-operation in Development) ?

Fred Hyde is a remarkable Queenslander and CO-ID Australia is a registered Australian charity that builds and operates schools on Bhola Island in Bangladesh. Fred is from Warwick in Queensland, and over a period of 3 decades he has overseen the building of 41 schools in  Char Fassion.

We funded School number 37, which we continue  to support each year. It was completed in 2008 and is now fully enrolled with 300 children and 4 teachers - that is, with a teacher-child ratio that would challenge western teachers everywhere  . ... but  which shows that the children of Bhola are clamouring to go to school,  and that we all value best what we work hardest to achieve.

CO-ID's most recent school , # 41,  was opened by the Australian High Commissioner on 9th of May 2009.

By way of saying thank you to Australia the young people  of Bhola Island, one of the poorest regions in the world,  managed to raise in return - taka by taka - the equivalent of one and a half  year's adult wage . Their generous donation was made on behalf of the Australian Bush Fire Appeal and went towards assisting those who suffered such devastating loss in the Victorian bush fires.
